CRM

Software that centralizes customers, history, and the sales pipeline in one place.

A CRM (customer relationship management) is the tool that replaces the address book, the spreadsheet, and memory: every customer gets a record (contact details, calls, messages, quotes), and every opportunity a stage in the pipeline. For a solo operator a lightweight CRM is enough; what matters isn't the tool's power but data discipline — a half-filled CRM lies to its owner.

Where the CRM becomes genuinely useful on the phone: when the customer calls back three weeks later, the record and customer history tell you who they are, what you said and promised, and where their case stands. Telephony/CRM integrations automate that memory: call ended, text exchanged, appointment booked — everything is written without manual entry. "Have we spoken before?" becomes "Welcome back — your kitchen leak, we were at the quote stage."
