Integration
A connector between two tools that moves data automatically, with no re-entry.
An integration is the link between two software products that lets them exchange data without human intervention: the appointment taken by phone writes itself into the calendar, the customer record creates itself in the CRM, the invoice follows the quote. It takes three forms: the native connector published by one of the two vendors, the API used by a third party, and automation platforms like Zapier connecting whatever isn't connected.
The practical test for a local business: follow one piece of information end to end. A customer calls, an appointment is agreed — how many times is that information retyped, into how many tools, by how many people? Every re-entry is a cost and a future error. A telephony tool without integration into your calendar and CRM wins you calls only to lose you evenings of paperwork.
