Call forwarding

Sending calls from one number to another — the setting that decides where your phone really rings.

Call forwarding sends calls arriving on one line to another destination: the office landline to your mobile, your mobile to a service number, your business number to an agent. It comes in unconditional (all calls) and conditional flavors: on no-answer, on busy, on unreachable — the latter being the one that matters for missed-call recovery.

It's a carrier setting before it's a software one: it's activated by codes on mobile (*21, *61, *62, *67 depending on the case) or in a VoIP switchboard's interface, and some plans restrict it. The entire architecture of smart telephony depends on it: conditional forwarding is what sends the missed call to the system that answers for you — instant text or voice agent. A misconfigured forward is the sector's most silent failure: everything works, except the call goes to the wrong place.
