10DLC number
A 10-digit number registered with US carriers to send A2P texts fully above board.
10DLC (10-digit long code) is the US regime governing business SMS sent from 10-digit numbers — the ordinary local number range. Since US carriers tightened their filtering, all A2P traffic on these numbers must be registered: a brand, a campaign, and a use case declared through carrier registries. Unregistered traffic is throttled, filtered, or blocked.
For a business operating in the US, it's an infrastructure question: a text-back that never arrives recovers nothing. The questions to ask a provider: under which brand is the traffic registered, who holds that registration, and what happens if you switch providers? A registration held by the vendor rather than by you is one more dependency — when you leave, you'll have to renegotiate your own numbers.
