Alphanumeric sender ID
A brand name displayed instead of the number on a text — "DUBOIS PLUMBING" instead of a string of digits.
The alphanumeric sender ID lets you send texts whose sender shows as a name rather than a number: the client's screen reads "MARTIN HEATING" instead of "+1 (555) 123-4567". Support depends on the country — common in Europe, unavailable in the United States, where sending must go through a 10-digit number (10DLC).
The benefit is instant identification: a text signed with the business name gets read where an unknown number gets suspected. The technical caveat to know: depending on the configuration and country, an alphanumeric sender doesn't always allow replies — it's then used for one-way notifications, with a dedicated number for two-way conversations. In France, marketing texts must in any case include an opt-out method.
