Voice transcription
Automatically turning speech into text — voicemails become readable, searchable, archived.
Voice transcription converts a spoken recording — voicemail, call, dictation — into text, via automatic speech recognition. Applied to voicemail, it radically changes the usage: instead of dialing a number, listening in order, and memorizing, you read the message in a notification or dashboard, search it by keyword, forward it to a colleague.
Its limits are the underlying technology's: regional accents, job-site noise, choppy messages — modern transcription is good but not perfect, and a mistyped phone number is a lost appointment. Serious uses assume it: transcription for fast reading, but number and address confirmed through another channel — ideally the reply to a confirmation text. Legal point for recorded calls: recording and retention fall under the GDPR in Europe and state laws in the US — informing the caller is the rule.
