AI voice agent
AI that answers calls, speaks naturally, and drives the exchange to an outcome: qualification, booking, or escalation.
An AI voice agent answers the phone in place of a human. Its technical chain strings together three components: speech recognition (ASR) turns speech into text, a large language model (LLM) decides the reply, and text-to-speech (TTS) speaks it. To feel natural, the round trip must stay under a second and the agent must accept being interrupted — barge-in. An IVR executes menus; a voice agent holds a conversation.
In practice, it picks up while you're under a sink or in a meeting, answers recurring questions with your prices and service areas, qualifies the request, and offers slots. Two rules separate a good agent from a gimmick: it always introduces itself as the business's assistant, never as a human, and it transfers the call the moment the situation exceeds what it can handle.
